Situation was due to “irregular disembarkation of a flight of international origin”, and it was necessary to “re-screen the passengers”.
The arrivals area at Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport was evacuated on Monday, a source at the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the Public Security Police confirmed to the newspaper Diário Económico.
Passengers on a flight from a non-Schengen area, in this case Turkey, disembarked at an access door for which they were not authorized, the same source explained. “They contaminated a clean and safe area”, which is why it was necessary to activate airport security procedures.
In this sense, it was necessary to isolate and correctly route passengers and employees in that area and “submit to a new security screening”. Also explains the PSP that this operation was given as terminated at 11:45, with no situation to declare.
The situation was due to “the irregular disembarkation of a flight from international origin,” and “there was a need to evacuate the international departure lounge under the terms of security protocol, in order to screen passengers again,” said ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal to TSF.
According to CNN Portugal, it was the disembarkation of a Turkish Airlines flight at the wrong gate at Lisbon airport that prompted the authorities to activate a security protocol.
